There has been a lot of talk about using self-talk as a method of creating successful habits. The idea is to reprogram your subconscious mind to achieve your goals. Many people in the sales field have successfully used self-talk to take positive action on tasks that they previously had an aversion to doing.

For example, if you are very nervous on the phone, you will avoid cold calling on the phone. You’ll program a root channel before you sit down and make a dozen calls. By using positive self-talk, you give your subconscious mind a firm command over and over again that within a short period of time it begins to take root. Soon you find yourself effortlessly doing things that were previously difficult for you to start.

Self-talk is something we do all the time. We are simply not fully aware of it. When you get into an old elevator and it creaks and groans, you tell yourself that everything is fine, that all elevators have built-in safety features. You convince yourself of your fears. Those are the obvious situations that you may be aware of. But did you know that you also talk to yourself when you least expect it?

How many times have you skipped a training session and sat at home to work? How about that session where you got frustrated and broke up the day after your treadmill session? What about the cake you said you weren’t going to eat? All of these events have one thing in common; your.

As you thought about exercising, your body followed the subconscious suggestions of your other desires. You were out of the loop! The discipline problem is not simply one of attitude; it’s also a matter of what your brain is doing at the moment you make a decision.

Try to visualize your workout ahead of schedule and vividly imagine each move as perfect. Imagine the correct amount of weight on the bar and perform each rep with proper form. This will instill in your mind the correct way of doing things. Now tell yourself that you are executing each routine perfectly now.

Use a simple sentence with a positive result and place the timeline in the present. You are doing the exercise with perfect form and your muscles are contracting at their maximum level. Feel the routine in your mind as if it were really happening. You will soon find that you become more interested in starting your workouts after following this technique for a few days.
