When I think of German engineers, I always have a picture in my head of a bunch of stuffy nerds, in lab coats, paper clips with paper clips, too analytical. Regardless of whether this is true or not, I love their cars. So with this in mind, this time I will be driving a vehicle that has been an icon for over 10 years. Today is the Audi TT.

Now, I love Audi, so being able to drive the TT is an absolute pleasure for me. First, let’s take a look at the design. Although it doesn’t look as different as you might imagine, there are some slight changes, like the bi-xenon headlights with Audi trademark LED daytime running lights (which are useless, but look amazing) and larger air intakes on the front part. . Wider door sills and an aggressive rear bumper incorporate the two twin tailpipes at the rear.

The interior is fine, little one. I mean Audi added two seats for the rear, but there’s no way anyone can properly fit in there unless they don’t have legs. As for the front, there is plenty of room ….. for your legs. As for the rest, it comes with a nice aluminum trim, sturdy but soft leather seats, and an overall modern-looking design. All the controls are at your fingertips and easy to operate, except for the navigation system, which I had a little problem with. However, it comes with the Audi Multimedia Interface (MMI) that gives you on-screen audio controls and adds several steps to simple tasks like changing the radio station. MMI may appeal to the geeks of the world, but button usage works best in the long run. We have the steering wheel, which if you notice it is flat at the bottom. The reason for this is that without it, it would be extremely difficult to get in and out due to the tight fit.

Under the hood, the one I’m driving today comes with the 3.2-liter V6 that makes 250 hp and 236 ft-lb. of torque. Fuel economy starts at 17 mpg city and 24 mpg, which isn’t really that bad. Other versions that are available is the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that generates 200 hp and 207 ft-lb. of torque, and the top-of-the-line TTS, which has a slightly finer V6 engine that gives it 265 hp. It also comes with Audi’s adaptive variable suspension that keeps the front-wheel drive TT on the road.

Now, let’s talk about how this is handled when driving. In the city it is wonderful. The sports suspension is stiff, but not overdone to the point where your butt will feel like you’ve been through a round of boxing with Danny Jacobs. It is also very quiet and surprisingly capable of accelerating well when needed. On the highway it takes off very well. Although it’s not blazingly fast, it throttles well enough to leave people trying to follow you. Plus, the sound from that 3.2-liter V6 engine is just fantastic. Now America has a governor on these vehicles that limits them to 130 mph. Although I didn’t get there that fast, I got close enough to make people think I was being chased by the police (around 120 mph). When exiting the highway and onto country roads, it handles well at high speeds around corners. It must come with the fact that when Audi designed this vehicle, they did it so that it is very well balanced front and rear. Paired with Audi’s adaptive suspension, it’s great wherever you go.

So overall, I’ll have to give this car a thumbs up in my book. However, if I had to say what my main disappointment is, it is the engine. I was expecting a bit more from Audi’s top engines, especially from a V6. Why couldn’t they turbocharge so decently and give it a good 300hp, plus the TTS had even more?

The one I drove today is priced at $ 37,200, but the Audi TT lineup is between $ 35,200 – $ 46,540. In my opinion, get one because it’s so much fun to drive.
