If we go back to week six, we saw an Eagles team that couldn’t score a touchdown against a terrible Raiders team and we felt like we hit rock bottom. The loss was embarrassing and we had a chance to gain some ground on the Giants who were beaten by the Saints. We couldn’t find a way to win and many spirits were crushed.

Follow that game with a below-par performance against the Redskins and more questions arose. Sure the team won, but everyone knew they weren’t playing at the level they should. So here comes the big test, the battle for first place in the NFC East with the Giants, whom many picked as the winner of their division before the season began.

Boom, there’s the team we thought we had. The Eagles absolutely blew it out, got up early and never looked back. Offensively we flashed every weapon we have, and defensively we brought it strong for all four quarters. Now here we are, ready for another big division game with the Dallas Cowboys. This time we go in not as the challenger, but as the champion looking to defend his title. The Eagles are right where they need to be right now and they can control their own destiny.

So, in my opinion, that makes the Eagles the team to beat in the NFC East. They have beaten two of their three division foes so far and are looking for the sweep on Sunday night. The Cowboys are a worthy opponent, they lost a close game to the Giants and lost another close game to the Broncos. They were taken into overtime with the Chiefs, so they have shown their share of inconsistency. I’m sure the Birds will really rise up for this, and since it looks like Brian Westbrook could practice this week, they could add another weapon to an offense that seemed unstoppable against the Giants.
