When I was pregnant I was always asked “are you feeling okay?” question or the comment “you look very tired”. Looking your best is important, but it can be difficult when you have dark circles and puffiness under your eyes. Since your eyes are one of the first things people see when they look at you, it’s important that you address this issue.

To wake up your eyes, try these simple tips:

Drink lots of water: Water tends to make the skin plump by increasing the area between the blood vessels and the skin.

Reduce sodium intake – this will naturally draw water out of the eye area and any other areas where you are retaining water.

Get plenty of rest – Adequate sleep will reduce puffiness in the eye area. Make sure you get seven to nine hours of sleep a night. This will benefit your overall appearance and will be especially noticeable in your eyes.

Put cucumber slices over your eyes: This is the most common home remedy against dark shadows under the eyes. The slices should be left under the eyes for 5-10 minutes, then rinsed off with cool water.

Place raw potato slices over your eyes: It will significantly reduce dark circles and it’s easy and convenient. The slices should be left under the eyes for 20 minutes if possible, then rinsed off with cool water.

Banana puree: Put a little under each eye before going to bed. Potassium helps reduce dark circles.

Apply a cold teaspoon under the eyes: Put two clean teaspoons in the fridge and when they are cold, put the spoons on your dark circles.

Apply a tea bag to your eyes – it contains a natural element called tannin that will work to relieve puffiness quickly. Chamomile is the most recommended in the treatment of dark circles, it is a natural anti-inflammatory that will leave your face more luminous and less swollen.

You should also try these makeup tips to help cover up tired eyes:

Apply eye cream – First, eye creams will fill in the eye area, reduce lines and temporarily diminish the appearance of dark circles.

Wear concealer under your eyes: Try a yellow or green concealer before applying the concealer that matches your skin. The yellow pigment will cancel out the purple under your eyes.

Use white eyeliner: Apply it inside your eye to make your eyes look brighter.

Apply light eyeshadow – Lighter shades reflect light, making your eyes appear larger and brighter.

Use an eyelash curler: This will make you look brighter and more alert. You can also try a mascara that helps curl your lashes.
