One of the most popular weight loss myths is that if you were hungry, you would lose weight quickly and become slim and fit! People, especially those who are new to weight loss, believe that if they go hungry non-stop for several weeks, all their pounds will fall off and they can go back to eating junk food.

In the weight loss industry, there are two types of concepts: truths and myths. You have to find out and accept the truth and ignore the myth. However, it is easier said than done. In the modern world, lies are more attractive and famous than truths, and as such, most people fall for the lies and harm themselves. However, this will not happen to you if you take the time to read this article. In this article I will talk about one of the main prevailing myths that is badly affecting the weight loss industry.

The truth, however, is not so rosy! In fact, your body requires a certain number of calories per day to function properly. Once your body is deprived of this basic nutrition, it feels like you are killing it. To protect himself from death, he would go into what is known in medical parlance as “starvation mode.” While in starvation mode, your body would stop the fat burning process by lowering your metabolic rate.

The end result would be that even if you lose a few pounds of weight, it will be water weight loss, which is often the result of starvation, not fat loss. The loss of water weight is temporary and the lost weight will come back once you start eating normally! If you want to achieve permanent weight loss, you need to lose fat. Hunger has really helped you lose weight and be in shape.

There are diets that make you eat only a piece of carrot or a glass of lemon juice during a period of twenty-four (24) hours. What these diets are doing is making you starve. Once again, your body would stop the fat burning process to protect itself from an early death. Worse still, when you stop dieting and go into a normal eating mode, you will gain a few extra pounds on top of what you started with.

There is something else. Hunger decreases your muscle mass. Normally, your body uses carbohydrates to produce the necessary energy. But when you starve, your carbohydrate stores quickly deplete, leaving you with only fat and muscle. By nature, your body would keep the fat intact for future use and start burning muscle for energy.

As you lose muscle, your metabolic rate will automatically drop! There would come a time when you would have more fat than muscle. This is not an ideal situation. If you have too little muscle, you won’t be able to burn fat and lose weight, muscle is what helps you burn fat fast!

I ask that you take my word for the information I have shared with you. I’ve been there and done that. Do yourself a big favor. Consult any diet, weight loss program, etc. with your doctor. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true. Most likely it is. Thank you for taking the time to read this short article. I hope I’ve helped.
