Salt has always been considered one of the best food seasonings to be found, however adding flavor to our otherwise mild foods is not the only purpose this seasoning can serve. There are other uses that I have attached a list of.

  1. Salt is a great item to use when you want to remove unpleasant odors from your stove.
  2. You can add a pinch of table salt to your hot chocolate to enhance the taste.
  3. If you are trying to remove stains from your clothes, you may want to mix 1 part salt with 4 parts rubbing alcohol.
  4. If you have moldy plaque, then lemon juice mixed with a little salt will do wonders.
  5. You can easily prevent grass from growing between the sidewalk bricks by simply sprinkling a little salt on the grassy spots.
  6. Salt is excellent for polishing your old kerosene lamps.
  7. If your sink drain pipes have an unpleasant odor, you can remove them with a strong solution of hot water and salt.
  8. In the event you have a cake that is bubbling while cooking in the oven, put a handful of salt over the spilled cake juice. Spilled juice will not smell and will soon bake to a dry crust that you can easily wipe off when the oven has cooled down.
  9. If you have apples that have shriveled, you can soak them in a mild solution of salted water. They will perk up in no time.
  10. If you rub a little salt on your cast iron pancake griddle, your pancakes won’t stick.
  11. If you soak your new toothbrushes in a salt water solution, they will last much longer.
  12. The salt will clean discolored coffee makers.
  13. You can mix a little salt with turpentine to whiten your bathtub or toilet.
  14. If you soak the walnuts in brine overnight, they will break apart whole. Simply tap the ends of the shells with a hammer to open them.
  15. If you boil new clothespins for a short time in salt water before using them, they will last much longer.
  16. You can clean your bronze; pewter and copper with homemade vinegar and salt paste that has been thickened with a little flour.
  17. If you add a pinch of salt to the water in your vase, the cut flowers will have a longer life.
  18. If you pour a small mound of salt over an ink stain that was made on your carpet, the salt will absorb most of the stains.
  19. To clean your iron you can rub a little salt with a damp cloth.
  20. To help double roast foods cook faster, you can add a little salt to the water.
  21. You can use a mixture of lemon juice and salt to clean the keys on your piano.
  22. You can easily fill the plaster holes made in your wall using equal parts starch and salt with just enough water to putty together.
  23. If you have eye pain, you can use a salt water rinse.
  24. Warm, slightly salty water will make a very effective mouthwash. If you have a sore throat, make the water slightly warm and use it to gargle.
  25. You can make a good tooth polish by sprinkling some dry salt on your toothbrush.
  26. Salt is an excellent product for removing weeds from your garden.
  27. You can remove excess foam by sprinkling a little salt in the water.
  28. You can add a pinch of salt to your warm milk and it will make a more relaxing type drink.
  29. Before using new glasses, you should soak them in warm salted water for a short period of time.
  30. A pinch of salt will enhance the flavor of the tea.
  31. Salt will easily enhance the flavor of cooked apples.
  32. If you soak your clothes in a salt water solution when you wash them, they won’t stick to your clothesline in freezing weather. You can also use salt in your final rinse to prevent freezing.
  33. Rubbing salt on your wicker furniture will prevent it from turning yellow.
  34. Sponges can be refreshed by soaking them in salt water.
  35. Add some raw potatoes to soups and stews that are too salty.
  36. Burnt stains can be easily removed by soaking enameled pans in salty water overnight while boiling salty water in the pan the next day to remove burnt stains.
  37. Dirt will come off vegetables more easily if you clean them with salt water.
  38. To make your jellies faster, use a pinch of salt.
  39. You can prevent discoloration of your fruit by placing it in some mild salty water.
  40. Your milk will stay fresh longer if you add a little salt to it.
  41. You can use equal amounts of soda and salt to brush your teeth.
  42. Clean your greasy pots and pans with a little salt on a paper towel.
  43. When you cook eggs add a little salt to the water to make it cook faster.
  44. A pinch of salt added to the whipping cream will make it whip faster.
  45. A pinch of salt will enhance the flavor of your brewed coffees.
  46. Sprinkle some salt on your shelves to keep ants away.
  47. If you dip fresh fish in salt water, they will decalcify much more easily.
  48. You can taste the freshness of your eggs in salt water. If they are fresh they will sink while the bad ones will float.
  49. If you have a broken egg, it will remain in its shell if you add a little salt to the boiling water.
  50. If you add a pinch of salt to the egg whites, you will see that they prepare much faster.
