So what should your accounting resume look like? Your resume should have a maximum of 4 pages. If it is longer, you should cut the content. A common mistake is to list too many details for each job. For every job you have done, you should have between 4 and 8 features listed. Each role description should not be longer than 2 lines.
There are a number of items that you can leave OUT of your accounting resume. To prevent unfair discrimination, which shouldn’t happen but does! – your accounting resume does NOT need to include a photo, date of birth, nationality, marital status and number of children.

Mission statement
Please provide a quick summary of your career, qualifications, skills, and what type of position you are seeking now.
Ratings
List your business-related certificates and diplomas. Skip anything related to other types of jobs.
Training
Other than your accounting or bookkeeping qualifications, what training have you completed? Have you completed any software training like MYOB or Quickbooks course? Do you have training in First Aid? Include all of that here.
Information technology skills
Please list the software that you benefit from using. In particular, be sure to list any accounting packages you are familiar with, eg Xero, MYOB, Quickbooks.
General Skills and Abilities
Include ‘soft’ skills and abilities, such as your excellent communication skills, and sell some of your other qualities, such as being honest and trustworthy.
Job history
Start with your most recent employer. Include his title, the name of the organization, the location, and the date range he worked there. Then prepare a list below (between 5 and 10 points), include a list of your key tasks,

Have you won any awards, either during study or at the workplace? Don’t keep them a secret, tell your prospective employer! If you don’t have anything to include here, just remove this header.
References
Include the name, job title, organization name, and mobile phone number of at least 2 people who have been your supervisor or manager in a current or previous workplace.
