One thing that has helped my lady mother and I is when she finally agreed to try one of the Jitterbug cell phones for seniors. These big and simple cell phones for seniors are actually easier for them to use and even include the option to just dial O for the Operator who will then make the phone calls for our senior parents. In fact, she’s pretty proud of herself for not having to resort to it, but it’s nice to know that such an option is available.
Cell phones for some seniors who have never done much in the “tech age” is a tougher hurdle to overcome than most might think. It took me four years to convince her of one of these. We especially love it when we go shopping. Since she no longer drives, I can take her to her favorite Walmart. She can go out and do her shopping while I go get mine, saving both of us time. Or, if I don’t need to buy, I go to the McDonald’s that is in Walmart. So I can sit there and write to my heart’s content. With my notepad and iPhone, I can be quite productive, knowing that if she needs me for something, she can call me on her cell phone Jitterbug. Before, we had to stay together or spend considerable time looking for each other all over the store.
I wouldn’t give up my smartphone for anything. I call it my brain and I’m not kidding as it has a lot of valuable information stored in it. But I am so thankful for the simplicity of the Jitterbug cell phones for seniors and how much easier they have made my life and hers.
