After many years off the market, the beloved Finnish brand has been resurrected with its first new Android phone. Their new phone has to be among one of the most anticipated phones worldwide in 2017. Nowhere is this more so than in Asian countries, where Nokia was once one of the country’s most respected and well-known brands.

Nokia’s return

The Nokia 6 will also launch worldwide very soon, although no official dates have been announced yet. Die-hard Nokia fans who wanted to relive their days of owning and using Nokia have already ordered the new Nokia 6 on Chinese websites and imported into other countries. Case makers are also eager to tap into the frenzy of phone demand by launching designer covers and covers for the Nokia 6. So, oddly enough, while you can’t buy a 6 yet, you can go online and help yourself with literally hundreds of Nokia 6 cases. You can even create and buy a custom Nokia 6 case if you want and have it delivered to your door when the phone becomes available.

What to expect from the 6?

First, you should know that the 6 isn’t really a Nokia, at least not the one you remember. Nokia is no longer a Finnish phone manufacturer. That company is, if you’ll excuse the horrible pun, ‘finished’. The venerable brand is now owned by a Chinese conglomerate called HMD. HMD owns the right to use the company’s trademark to make and sell smartphones and that’s exactly what it has done here. That’s not to say that the Nokia 6 is fake. There has never really been a Nokia-branded Android phone, so the 6 is the first of its kind, and since HMD is the rightful owner of the marquee, the Nokia 6 is as legit as it gets.

A real Nokia?

Only time will tell if the 6 lives up to the incredible reputation Nokia has as a phone brand, if not a smartphone maker. First impressions, however, are very promising. The 6 has a nice, simple design that looks very current. Some would say it’s not exactly distinctive, but the amount of leeway for smartphone design has really dwindled to next to nothing in 2007. The 6 is made from premium materials like aluminum and Corning’s toughened Gorilla Glass, making it which should mean that a Nokia 6 case should be an option rather than a necessity. Inside too, the 6 is very competitive for a mid-range Android device in 2017. It remains to be seen if the 6 can do the job of starting to rebuild the Nokia brand to what it once was.
