If you’re new to internet marketing, you’ve probably come across the term “SEO” or search engine optimization, with no idea what it’s all about.
What is SEO?
SEO is a traffic strategy that will help your website rank higher on search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) for the keywords people are searching for.
Why do SEO?
-The number one benefit of all is the massive amount of FREE targeted traffic.
-This traffic is in progress. Which means that once you get your site ranked in the top 3 search results, you’ll have traffic on autopilot.
-Prospective clients and clients are arriving on autopilot. (A customer is someone who buys any product that appears on your website. A lead is a person who is interested in joining your business opportunity or a subscriber to your newsletter… etc. (A lead gives you their contact information to keep you updated and informed.)
-Risk free. It costs you nothing but time.
Natural (organic) search results vs. paid advertising (Google AdWords)
When implementing SEO, your goal is to rank your website at the top of natural (organic) search results.
Paid advertising, also known as “PayPer Click” (also known as Google AdWords if you advertise using Google) costs money. They have nothing to do with what we are trying to do here with our SEO strategy.
Generally speaking, people tend to trust organic search results on the left side rather than sponsored links on the right side.
Comparison of PPC (pay per click) and SEO strategies
While PPC costs money (between $0.05 and $10.00) and your competitors can bring you down by paying more, with SEO you only waste your time. (As far as PPC goes, until you know what you’re doing, I’d advise staying away from it. Advertising with Google AdWords is an art.) your competition to take over your position. They have to learn the same SEO principles and implement them more effectively than you. Also, you will get much more traffic than through PPC.
