A common cold is caused by certain viruses, which cause inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. As the name suggests, it is a disease that is more common than others and a person can suffer from it more than once a year, and each time can last from 3 to 10 days.

Symptoms of common colds include sore throat, runny nose, congestion of the nasal passages, chills, headaches, and sneezing. Causes include exposure to viruses, low immune system, as well as changes in temperature, dust, and cold weather.

While there are medications available to treat colds, it may not always be the best option due to side effects that can trigger other problems. Instead, it would be prudent and safer to use home cold remedies, which are not only effective, but also very safe to use.

1. Lemon remedy

Lemon is very rich in vitamin C, which is excellent for building body resistance and decreasing toxicity in the body. For its healing properties, lemon is being used for all kinds of colds. All you need to do is squeeze fresh lemon into a glass of warm water and add a teaspoon of honey. Mix well and drink twice a day until the cold is gone.

2. Garlic remedy

Garlic contains antispasmodic and antiseptic properties; It is able to lower fever and eliminate toxins from the body. You can mince three or four garlic cloves and make a clear soup by boiling it with 2-3 cups of water. There is also the option of using 6 drops of garlic oil and mixing with a teaspoon of onion extract and a cup of water. Drink 2-3 times a day to treat the common cold.

3. Ginger remedy

Prepare 10g of natural ginger powder and boil it with a cup of water. Add a teaspoon of honey and drink hot. This tea-like drink helps bring down fevers and is known to be an excellent cold remedy when drunk twice a day.

4. Lady’s fingers remedy

The Lady’s Fingers plant is reputed to be excellent for treating sore throats and dry coughs. It has mucilage, which acts as a drug to relieve pain and swelling in the airways. Cut and boil Lady’s Fingers with a pint of water to use for steam inhalation (do not drink!). Inhale twice a day to relieve cold symptoms.

5. Turmeric remedy

Turmeric can remedy sore throats and colds. All you need to do is prepare half a teaspoon and mix with 2 tablespoons of warm milk. Drink it once or twice a day. Additionally, you can also use turmeric for steam inhalation, especially to treat a runny nose.

6. Pepper and tamarind remedy

Pepper and tamarind are a well-known concoction in India for treating common colds. To prepare it, mix 50g of tamarind powder or pulp with a glass of water and then boil. Add half a teaspoon of black pepper powder and a teaspoon of butter, mix well and take three times a day. This helps to clear the nasal obstruction.
