“Mom I’m hungry”. If you got a rupee every time your son told you that; you would already be a millionaire.

The ability of children to develop their appetite at any time of the day is simply amazing. Whether it’s the after-school mini meal or the after-game afternoon snack, they love their daily meal quota! We have all gone through the same growth phase.

However, organizing healthy meals for children may not always be so easy. This binge between meals is actually the main reason behind obesity in children. While it may be difficult for you to turn down their demands for snacks, you can always make sure that what they are eating is healthy. After all, the habit of healthy eating in children begins at home.

Make your kids some tasty homemade snacks, which are as easy as making instant noodles, but much more nutritious! Make your children’s health your priority with these healthy snacks:

Fruit flavored milk:

Milk and fruits are a good way to substitute potato chips and soda for that late night snack. Make it great by mixing them both! Use fruits like strawberries, peaches, or mixed berries with low-fat milk to make a delicious smoothie glass, filled to the brim with healthy.

Oatmeal pancakes:

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It is also the most hasty. Make the most of every second by whipping a super fast pancake made with oatmeal. Served with eggs, they take less than 5 minutes to prepare. Carbohydrates and protein make it a good food for children.

Green skewers:

Feeding children green vegetables is like taking on the toughest job on the planet. Trick them into eating spinach and peas by cooking some healthy ‘green’ kebabs. Put some potatoes for a balanced meal. They are great snacks for children and can be served at any time of the day.

Yogurt dessert:

Swap those unhealthy fat and sugar laden ice creams for a cup of fruit yogurt. Sweeten some Greek yogurt with a little honey, mix it with berries and freeze it like a popsicle. Dessert suddenly becomes a healthy food for children.

Sweet potato chips:

When hunger strikes, children generally reach for bags of potato chips. Give your fries a healthy twist by using sweet potato instead of potato. Do not fry them, instead bake them until crisp and serve with homemade cilantro sauce.

As much as we like to keep our children happy, we also like to see them healthy. Junk food may be the easiest option when it comes to snacking, but it does more harm than good to your children’s health. So grab that apron and take 5 minutes out of your busy schedule to whip up some healthy snacks. Who said healthy food can’t be fun?
