The 72-letter name of God, which is used in Jewish mysticism for meditation purposes, is derived from the Hebrew word sounds that Moses uttered in the presence of an angel to cause the Sea of Reeds to part during his escape from Egypt. The idea is that by making these same statements you can cause similar miracles to happen in your own life. Simply looking at the symbols in the Zohar is also supposed to infuse you with energy.
Certain practices are believed to be bad for developing the energy of Kabbalah. One of these is masturbation, since Kabbalists believe that individual sperm cells become demons if they are not allowed to evolve into a human fetus. Also in Kabbalistic practice, the man should orgasm before the woman to help minimize the birth of demons due to excess sperm. As for sex, it is also considered negative for the woman to be on top, since that means that she is taking out bad energy from below.
Lately, Kabbalah energy has come under scrutiny because it is sold as holy water both from the Kabbalah center in Los Angeles and from independent manufacturers who claim that holy water gives you extra power. In essence, it is sold to cure boredom problems.
