Plan your trip: travel around Europe by train, plane, bus or rent a car. This saves you time and money. If you’re on a budget, compare prices to train, plane, or bus. Check departure times, arrival times and duration of the trip.

by train

Traveling around Europe by train remains the most popular way to get around. If traveling light is your life motto, this is a great way to get to your favorite cities! Find out how many countries you will visit. There are certain types of train fares to suit your needs. Do you travel during the day when you can admire the scenery? Or at night, while you sleep and wake up in your new destination, saving yourself a night in a hotel? Travel Europe like Europeans do! Mingle with the locals. One piece of advice, since at home, keep your belongings close to you, especially in larger cities like Rome.

I have traveled alone in Europe. And for solo female travelers, Europe can be quite safe. I have never had the need to travel at night, as I prefer to sleep in a warm and comfortable bed. 🙂 While traveling, bring your drinks. Most of the train stations have shops and kiosks. It’s hard to be thirsty on board and pray for that guy selling the snacks to show up!

Eurorail or Eurail passes can only be purchased while outside of Europe. There are special passes based on the length of your stay, how many times you will travel, and how many countries you will visit. This is useful, although if you’re covering a few cities at once, it’s best to buy point-to-point tickets. During these cases, I buy mine on the spot.

A green way to travel around the UK – get around on the Virgin train! They have fares as low as GBP 12.50 each way. And if you book early, they have great deals for first class. First class and saving the environment, what a great combination.

By plane

With people wanting to get to their destination faster and cheaper, European regional airlines offer promotional flights, sometimes even cheaper than the train fare! wow! That’s a great way to travel around Europe! So instead of traveling overnight on a train, you can choose to fly! There are plenty of cheap airlines to make female travelers happy!

British Midland flies from London to various European cities. My flight from Paris to London with a group was delayed, but the service made up for it. Despite this delay, I am still flying British Midland.

I also tried easyjet from Dortmund to Rome Ciampino and Jet2 from Leeds to Amsterdam Schiphol. These are budget airlines. If I had booked fast enough I could have gotten my fare from Leeds to Amsterdam for just £1 (excluding tax)!

Do you fly within Italy? Try MyAir. They also fly to various international cities within Europe.

Please note that you pay for drinks and snacks on board, so make sure you have coins or small bills ready. The flights left on time and in about an hour, you are at your destination!

On the other hand, there is also the possibility of renting a private jet. Check out Net Jets Europe if you don’t want to wait for flights (like the rest of us).

by car

If you’re the type who loves to drive on vacation and consider map reading a stress-free hobby, then go ahead and rent a car! Driving in Europe is very easy… that’s what Jan (my husband) says… I can’t say the same because I don’t know how to drive!

by bus

Traveling by bus in Europe is an alternative to traveling by train. It is simple. Hop-on, hop-off. Coaches are now becoming ultra modern. The ride is as smooth as when you’re on board a plane! Is bus travel your thing the next time you travel through Europe? There are several bus companies to choose from.

I traveled on the Eurolines Amsterdam to Paris trip. We left Amstel Station at around 8 at night and arrived in Paris at 6 in the morning. There are several bathroom stops throughout the night and because the seats were comfortable, I felt pretty good upon arrival.

National Express is a UK coach operator serving over a thousand places in the UK and popular destinations in Europe (with Eurolines) as far as Moscow and St Petersburg! There are some really great deals out there, so you might have a chance to get a great deal. The journey may take longer than by train, but you won’t have to worry about your luggage as all luggage is stored under the carriage.

By private coach

The best in land travel, you and your friends and family have the privacy of your own coach! Plan your itinerary and have your own professional driver take you across the continent for the entire trip. The last family group that had decided to travel around Europe (well, Italy and France) in the comfort and safety of their own luxury coach, a great bonus on their vacation! The kids took to the back seats to chat all day and their parents stayed up front enjoying the view!

Boat

This is a great alternative for those who get bored easily. You can do different activities on board the ferry so there is never a dull moment while you travel around Europe on your own.
