There are several types of paper that are used in the execution of various activities, such as drawing, tracing, printing, calligraphy, etc. Papers are available in a wide range of sizes, thicknesses, and finishes, as well as varying degrees of quality, permanence, and durability. A particular type can often be used for another purpose. Printing papers, for example, can be used with acrylics, and many graphic papers are ideal for drawing. Please note, however, that certain sheets have poor aging characteristics and should not be used for permanent fine art.

1. Art Paper: This is a smooth, high-gloss coated paper with both sides coated with kaolin. It is used to make calendars, brochures, magazine covers, labels, book jackets, etc.

2. Bond paper: This is a strong printing material that has been given a plate finish. It has good durability and resistance. Its rigidity is good and it has a good erasing quality. It also has excellent ink receiving quality. It is used for drawing, printing, making letterheads, magazines, notebooks, brochures, etc. Watercolors and permanent markers can be used with success.

3. Bank Paper – This is a thin, smooth, and lightweight paper, usually white, though some are colored. They are used to produce bills of exchange.

4. Brown Paper – This is a strong, beige colored sheet that has great tensile strength. It is used to make envelopes, cover notebooks and wrap items.

5. Blotting paper: It is quite strong and shiny and is used to produce flowers.

6. Paper Cartridge – This is a strong, heavy, textured material. It is also thick, whitish, absorbent and thicker than bond sheet. It is used for drawing, making prints, book covers and posters.

7. Carbon Paper – This is a thin material that is coated on one or both sides with a dry printable ink. It is used to produce identical copies of original documents.

8. Cardboard – This is a thicker, more rigid material that comes in a variety of colors and weights. It is used to produce boxes, books and packages.

9. Cover material: refers to any heavy paper that can be used to bind magazines, brochures, booklets, etc.

10. Chrome layer

This is a type of glossy paper that has been chrome coated on one side of the paper.

11. Copy paper: This type is used to make a photocopy. It can be used in photocopiers and fax machines.

12. Chipboard: This is a heavy, stiff paper with an off-white glossy side on one side and an ash (gray) side. It is used to make packages, book covers, etc.

13. Textured Paper – This type has a texture on one side and the other side is smooth. The eggshell has the texture of an eggshell, while the basket paper has the texture of a basket. The duplex has both sides textured.

14. Manila board: it is rigid, resistant and smooth, generally white, although others are colored. They are used as surface drawing, making folders, flat files, book covers, etc.

15. Newsprint: This is a faint gray colored paper that turns brown after a while. It is used for the production of newspapers, flyers, exercise books, telephone directory, notebooks, printing proofs, etc.

16. Rice Paper: This is a very absorbent paper from the Orientals.

17. Sugar paper: Like rice paper, it is highly absorbent. It is very good for printing, painting, etc. They are mostly black and gray.

18. Wallpaper – This is a type of paper coated with multiple colors or floral designs used to decorate walls.

19. Straw Board: This is a very strong and rigid board that is gray in color. It is made of straw pulp.

20. Old Paper: This is a type of printing paper that has good bulk and opacity with a rough or matte surface.

21. Tracing Paper: This is a strong, lightweight, transparent paper used for tracing or transferring images from one surface to another.
