If you managed to wear out the seat of your pants on the benches in the science room, you would have learned that matter is made up of atoms. And the electrons are in constant motion around the nucleus in the center. The nucleus is made up of protons and neutrons that are much larger than electrons.
Recent nuclear studies have revealed that there are super-small particles (much smaller than electrons) also in constant motion inside protons and neutrons.
The main conditions that inform the human perception of ‘life’ are movement and energy. Quantum Physics has made amazing discoveries of ‘life’ in all matter, including what humans perceive as inanimate, such as minerals and rocks.
Quantum physics now claims that the entire universe can be seen as a “sea” of energy made of fine particles in ceaseless motion. All these particles are connected and interdependent.
This idea is in tune with the spiritual Truth that various mystics, saints, and sages have been trying to bring home since the dawn of civilization: There is a Universal Life Force or Energy that pervades all matter and space.
In this Energy all matter moves, lives and has its being. Over the centuries, various names and attributes have clung to this Force. Religious people like to call it God or Father. Some mystics prefer to use the term First Cause or Light. Universal Life Force, Divine Intelligence, Universal Intelligence, Great Spirit, and Higher Power are among the many names assigned to this Omnipresent Energy.
I can bet the atheist is thinking, “Thank God, there are other names besides ‘God’.”
Gradually, science, like an overfed tortoise regaining consciousness, is crawling back to Truth. To the Truth that there is a Divine Force that forms the essence of the constituents of the entire universe.
This Force cannot be dissected to any considerable extent, but it exists ‘in a big way’. To my way of thinking, the most sensible way to prove the existence of the Force (God) is to assume that He/She/It exists, and then seek and find or experience.
From my personal experience, I find it easier to establish the existence of the Great Spirit by comparing the flow and harmony in the lives of people who consciously connect with Him and those who do not.
Unfortunately, the market is flooded with certain New Age books that make this Force appear to the public as some kind of ‘inanimate’ energy. Your spirit, which I would like to hope is alive, is a miniature model of this Omnipresent Spirit. This Spirit, like you, is also alive! He is ceaselessly aware and awake to the drop of a hair on your scalp and to every event that unfolds in this wondrous universe.
My friend Katumu decided to share with me a particular experience that her ex-boyfriend used to complain about. This guy, from what I hear, had serious concerns about making money the hard way (with the sweat of his brow) to buy a ticket to a live concert. After going through that frantic effort to get a ticket to the show, the band’s lead singer tries to order him and the rest of the audience around. Mandate:
“Yoh! Get up if you’re still sitting down”
“Now clap your hands”
“Yes! Yes! Jump!”
“Bend down”
“Mmm…mm get up!”
“Aha! Get into the grove”
“Boogie-boogie”
“Get funky and shake what your momma gave you.”
This guy, I was told, used to be exasperated to the point of exploding, having to go through such an ordeal. Introverted as he was, after working hard to buy his ticket, he wanted to be left alone to be his own boss. At the end of the show, he was hurtling for the door at a pace that Katumu couldn’t match. He must have left his shadow some thirty feet behind him.
I had a similar experience when the author of a book I was reading had the gall to tell me not to look elsewhere for a second opinion on the information he shared. I listened carefully and read so many books afterwards, exactly on the same topic.
I would not tell you what to do, but I would urge you to keep learning while exercising your sense of discernment. I have studied spiritual matters extensively, and to me the litmus test of material that will not wear out your soul is whether or not it represents God as ‘Alive’ like you, or as some form of ‘Lifeless’ substance or energy. Material that professes the latter will be ‘dead’ and, as you will discover for yourself, a burden to your soul. You will feel drained of energy when you have read it. Such material is ‘lifeless’!
If you would keep your eyes wide open, your wits alert, and your ears tuned, you would have no difficulty perceiving how hectic and jarring are the lives of those who are out of touch with the living God. My observation spans a period of approximately three and a half decades, and I can attest to the fact that being out of touch with the Master of the Universe is equivalent to a life that is ‘dead’. This is independent of how wealthy the individual is!
If you’re wondering what this Living Force is like, you’re one step ahead of me, because I have no idea. If you want to embrace Master as an old man with a long white beard, a white T-shirt, and a pair of skintight bootcut jeans, sitting on a golden stool, that’s fine. Or maybe you want to think of God as a skinny lady with blonde hair in white clothes and high heels, strutting about taking care of the business of the universe, that’s fine too. I trust that the Most High will not be upset if you want to imagine him as a hermaphrodite with a thousand members, in order to embrace his Omnipotence.
Give your imagination a whim. What matters is your awareness of His existence. Perhaps I’m not as imaginative as you, since I don’t see the need to attribute any gender to God. I represent the Master by ‘Him’ in my writing as a way of facilitating presentation only. It is also useful to consider the Great Spirit as a personal God with whom you can have a relationship, as well as a Universal ‘Living’ Energy that you can access. When the time is right, how to harness this Energy to speed up manifestation will be discussed.
It is not my aim at all in this discourse to prove the existence of God. This effort will not succeed even if I slip a tome of religious doctrines into the reader’s mind. Faith and belief in the Divine, in my opinion, should result from a personal collection of evidence. This is a lifetime search. Always remember that God is Spirit, and you have to seek him in spirit. Until you ask your conscious mind (logical mind) to ‘SHUT UP’ and dull your physical senses, you won’t come close to experiencing it. Throughout the centuries, those who assumed He exists and diligently sought Him found or experienced Him. And you can too.
You don’t see electricity but you think it exists or not? If you don’t have enough faith in it, the proof is not far off. Simply insert your little finger into a socket and the signals will be dazzled written on your finger. Sure, the proof of the pudding is in the warm-up.
I leave this food for thought to the atheist:
Look around you and reflect on the universe. Consider humans, animals, plants, rocks and minerals, the heavenly bodies, and the degree of order and harmony that exists within them. To gauge the magnitude of this order, compare how long it takes you to arrange the items in your house (including all the details) in the order you prefer. How much energy and attention would it take to maintain this for, say, a week? How about order and constancy in the seasons? You know that day will follow night without fail, and each year you look forward to the glow and warmth of summer. Does it not seem to you that there might be some Intelligence behind this order and harmony as science has begun to unearth?
Have you ever met anything that exists without a creator? I mean include yourself? And have you considered what happens in your dream state, when you lose track of the physical things you believe in? That dream state is the closest you can get to the Divine that you don’t believe in. So pay attention when you are there.
As for me, in my dreams I have received witty advice, my cheeks have been stroked and my buttock has been pinched so hard that it hurts a lot, the pain lasts for about two and a half hours when I wake up. So I’ve compiled my own evidence for God, and maybe it’s your turn to do the same.
It is one thing to pay lip service to God and another to live the Truth. The Truth is: there is only one God or Living Force that exists in this universe. Every element of creation, including you and me, angels, spirit guides, the devil, demons, animals, plants, rocks, the sun, stars, moon, you name it, embodies the essence of God. You and I have a level of consciousness higher than that of animals, plants, rocks and minerals. Status goes hand in hand with increased responsibility. Therefore, we are supposed to have dominion over animals, plants, rocks, and minerals, but we must be responsible for our own destiny.
PRACTICE 1
The following exercise, if diligently practiced on a daily basis, will change your life dramatically. You will feel strong, energetic and confident.
Take about 5 minutes each morning to reflect on the Truth, as discussed above.
This task should be carried out in a place where you are alone and enjoy silence and privacy.
1. Sit on a chair, mat, or your bed, depending on what makes you comfortable.
2. Close your eyes and place your palms calmly on your thighs; palms down.
3. In your mind’s eye, see yourself as a brilliant white Energy that encompasses the outline of your body. And you are enveloped by a ‘sea’ of brilliant white energy.
This Energy is the Universal ‘Living’ Force or Almighty God. It fills you completely and fills every space around you in the universe. Feel the space in front of you, behind you, above and below you to the darkest depths of the earth. You are totally immersed in this Divine Energy that starts from within and extends to the ends of the Universe: in front, behind, above and below you. Feel and believe that you are actually pregnant with Divine Energy. It fills every cell of your body and permeates your soul. feel it; believe it; It is the Truth, and it will be.
This is the Truth, so live it and you will attest to the power of this practice. I was divinely and intuitively introduced to this practice of living the Truth about a decade ago. It has dramatically changed my life for the better, and I trust it will do the same for you.
The practice should not end with this morning session, but should stay with you throughout the workday. Practice it if you feel weak at work.
Daily begin to appreciate yourself as a spirit contained in a body rather than a physical body containing a spirit. Habitually and consciously feel your spirit with your body. The feel will improve and become ‘real’ with practice. Begin to recognize people, animals, plants, tables and all the elements you see around you as part of you and you as part of them. Keep reminding yourself that the Great Spirit exists in all of you and that you are all one and connected.
This practice will have the most profound effect on even the most incredulous soul. I speak from experience. You will always feel strong, energetic and bold, and you will never feel alone again. Remember, only Truth, diligently practiced can ‘set you free’ in the chaotic age in which we live.
