When traveling to Andaman, the best method of visiting is to plan to stay on one island and visit the island before moving to the other island. The reason I suggest this is because moving from one island to another is time consuming and you have to deal with many things like ferry tickets, ferry schedules and even the schedules of a specific attraction in a certain destination. Non-Indian citizens visiting Andaman please do not forget that if you wish to visit the islands you will need a restricted area permit if you are a non-Indian.

This permission is in addition to your normal Indian visa. For those arriving by air, the port will have a customs office to handle this, but those arriving by sea must apply for permission in advance. For those who do not have a scheduled flight to return home, please note that a permit may be issued for only 15 days instead of the normal 30 days at the discretion of the client office. Although the number of days a permit is granted to a foreigner can vary.

When you are in the Andaman Islands, I suggest you check out some of the places that are open to travelers visiting the Andaman Islands. Here are some places and things to do in each one.

Baratang Island

If you like to explore, this is the place to go. There are mud volcanoes and limestone caves. This is a stagnant area and you are not likely to run into too many people.

diglipur

Digipur is the most northerly point you can go in the Andaman and it is not the place of greatest attraction, but it is a major bus hub. Ferries and seaplanes also come to the area to transport travelers to and from the islands. Turtle nesting, Twin Island and Andaman Island’s highest peak, Saddle Peak, are present in this destination.

Havelock Island

Havelock Island is the most popular visitor spot and has the largest infrastructure of any place. In addition to having the most infrastructure, it is also a great place to find beaches, swim, snorkel and dive.

mayabunder

Mayabunder is the location of several attractions. There is a tropical forest, a wildlife sanctuary and various other places of interest. It is important to obtain permission from the Forest Department to tour the wildlife sanctuary.

neil island

Neil Island is the place to go to meet up on the beach and dive. Laxmanpur, Bharatpur and Sitapur beach are some of the most visited attractions here.

port blair

Port Blair is the capital of the Andaman Islands and is the only place from which you can enter or leave the area. It’s laid back and a great place to find seafood. One or two days in Point Blair would be good options.

range

Rangat is another transportation hub. Unlike Diglpur, there is nothing to do or see in this place. There used to be a beach here, but it was washed away by a tsunami. Recently, the Dhanni Nalah Mangrove Walkway and Ambkunj Beach have been renovated and opened for travellers.

Most of the places that serve as transportation hubs do not have places to sleep for tourists. Search nearby towns and cities to find places to stay.

English is widely spoken in the area due to the number of visitors who come to tour the islands. The official language of the area is Hindi. Other languages such as Tamil, Telugu and Bengali are also commonly spoken in the area.

Because all of these places are on or near the water, some of the most enjoyed activities in the area revolve around the water. Snorkeling is one of the best pastimes when it comes to vacationing in the Andaman. Three of the most popular diving spots are Elephant Beach, Jolly Bouy Island and North Bay Island. On average, these trips cost Rs 1,500. During the snorkeling trips, you will have the opportunity to see tropical fish and beautiful views with the cobalt-colored waters. Very few places allow such a pristine view. Most trips will even include some type of food. Along with snorkeling and diving, the area is also popular for those who like to surf.

The nearby oceans are also a great place to dive. You can participate in a number of different diving activities. For most people, Andaman scuba diving fun discovery will be perfect as they expose you to the experience of scuba diving. For those who have scuba experience there are options to do more advanced dives and for those who are interested in certifications, the clear water and expert instructors provide a great option to learn. Diving experiences range from Rs 3,500 to Rs 89,000. For those who are not up for diving, you can also go snorkeling, sea walks, boat rides and glass boat rides.

If you want to get the best vacation possible, make sure you take a look at the places you want to visit. But most importantly, once you’re there, don’t be afraid to change your plans and go wherever you want. Andaman Island is a great destination for all types of travellers, be they honeymooners, adventure seekers or even backpackers. This destination is something that you should surely add to your bucket list when you visit India.
